Description

US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and a Congressional delegation at the 26 UN Climate Change Conference of the Paris (COP26) sent a message that the US was ready to re-join international efforts to solve climate change.

"We come here fresh from advancing the most ambitious and consequential climate and energy legislation of all time in our country," announced the California democrat.

While leading a group of more than 20 US politicians, Pelosi highlighted that women faced particular threats in a warming world, stating that eighty percent of displaced people by climate change are women.

The House Speaker announced that a $1.85 trillion (€1.60 trillion) package of measures focused on health, family and climate change reflected US President Joe Biden's government goal to 'build back better.'

Former US President Donald Trump announced in 2017 that the US would cease to participate in the 2015 Paris Agreement on climate change relief.
