Description

Over a hundred climate activists from different organisations came together to protest against the fossil fuel industry in Berlin on Friday.

The protest took place following an oil spill in the Pacific Ocean which happened near the Peruvian coast on January 15.

Protesters marched from the Spanish embassy to the Norwegian embassy and the European commission building before ending their demonstration with a dance in front of the Brandenburg Gate.

They wore costumes depicting wildlife, carried banners and flags throughout the demonstration.

A letter signed by dozens of protesters was also handed to the Spanish embassy.

Spanish energy giant Repsol, who were behind the spill, have promised to clean up the oil before March, after nearly 12,000 barrels were spilled during unloading of a tanker. The Peruvian government is demanding compensation, after Repsol blamed a Tsunami for creating 'freak waves.'
