Description

The "Moscow. Kremlin. Putin" TV show aired by state broadcaster Rossiya-1 on Sunday showed new footage of the virtual meeting of Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Joe Biden.

The video included the technical setup of the cameras, talks of the protocol officers, and the start of the talks.

Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov commented on the talks on Sunday. He said that the leaders discussed issues of disagreement, but stressed that the tone of the talks was 'mutually respectful.'

"The conversation was mutually respectful. You cannot talk to Putin any other way, he would not have allowed it. Yes, indeed Biden was saying that if there is this ephemeral invasion in Ukraine, apparently Americans themselves have already believed that this is not a gaffe, but the real truth, then Russia will be financially isolated and so on and so forth," Peskov said.

According to the Kremlin spokesperson, the presidents discussed the situation in Ukraine and the redeployment of Russian troops. Putin stressed that Russia is not an aggressor and does not threaten other states.

"The president clearly said, referring to the president of the United States, that you are talking about our troops that are stationed on Russian territory. Those are not threatening anybody. But you are talking from thousands of kilometres away from our territory. What is the meaning of what you are saying? That we are talking about our own territory, about the territory of the Russian Federation. And we are talking about Europe, which is our common home. The Americans are on the other side of the ocean, that's what the president meant," Peskov said.

Russian President Vladimir Putin and his American counterpart Joe Biden held a virtual meeting on Tuesday. The White House said Biden and Putin discussed the build-up of Russian military power along the border with Ukraine, the reaffirmation of US support for Ukrainian sovereignty and territorial integrity, and US-Russia relations.
