Description

Hundreds of climate activists from the group 'Extinction Rebellion' protested against the outcomes of COP26 in London on Saturday.

The protesters made an effort to disrupt the Lord Mayor’s show, an annual event held in the English capital, that is mainly attended by dignitaries. The demonstration coincided with the final day of the COP26 summit being held in Glasgow.

"The latest COP didn't have the people that actually needed to be there. There were absolutely no women and women will be more supportive [inaudible] to the effects of the climate crisis. No indigenous communities were represented there, and - again - they are going to be disproportionally affected and they're all fighting it at the frontline," said one of the activists. "So you invited all the wrong people and you actually wanted COP to make a difference. So sadly - no," the activist concluded.

The COP26 summit was held in Glasgow between 31 October and 13 November 2021, under the presidency of Alok Sharma.
