French footballer Eugenie Le Sommer said during a press conference in Le Havre on Friday that her football career is a 'revenge' for her mother who was a footballer herself.

The striker shared that at first her mother had a hard time coming to terms with her choice of career, but added that "today I think it is a revenge for her, for all that she had to go through when she was playing herself. We are in a different generation, and I think in some way she is living her dream through me. She would have liked to live what I am living today."

Le Sommer also praised Brazilian player Marta by calling her a 'legend'. "She is really is a player to be wary of, who can be decisive at any moment, and who's capable of anything at any moment, and who can be dangerous," she said.

The French footballer also reminisced about France's 'unforgettable' victory at the 1998 World Cup, saying that "even though it was the boys, I was really into it."

Footage shows Le Sommer training with her teammates at the Cavee Verte stadium, as they prepare for their clash against Brazil, which will take place on Sunday in Le Havre.
