While US President-elect Joe Biden is preparing to bring together a divided nation torn apart by his predecessor Donald Trump, Londoners mused on the difficult road ahead for Biden a day before his inauguration.

"I think America has a lot more issues than the changing of the president," said Nora, a local who added problems were running deep in American society.

Nora's view was also reflected by other Londoners on Tuesday.

"I think it's a fascinating time in our history, clearly Trump has divided many many people. I think the big issue that Biden has is there are millions of Trump supporters. So I guess the challenge that he has, that he will be facing will be how to get those Trump supporters on his side and move America forward," said Patrick.

Some also reflected on the UK-US and Sino-US relationships in light of Biden's oath of office.

Biden and Kamala Harris will be sworn in as President and Vice President of the United States on Wednesday.
