Slovenia's Basketball team returned to Ljubljana on Sunday, after ranking fourth and missing out on a medal during the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.
Hundreds of fans gathered at the Ljubljana International Airport to welcome superstar player Luka Doncic and his teammates on Sunday, waving Slovenian flags and cheering.
"I want to thank everyone who watched (the game), I think it might be even more than half of Slovenia. So really thank you to everyone who was waking up, watching us and I really know they supported us," said 22-year-old Doncic during a press conference.
Doncic's stellar performance earned him a spot in the top five of the tournament's MVPs with Kevin Durant, Patty Mills, Rudy Gobert and Ricky Rubio.
Slovenia's men's basketball team lost the semifinals to France, who claimed the silver medal, and to Australia who won bronze. The US beat France to win their fourth straight gold.
