Authorities partly removed the fences erected around the Capitol building due to a lowered threat level, in Washington DC, Monday.
Locals welcomed the decision by expressing that they were intimidated by fences surrounding the neighbourhood.
"It's a good start, but I'd like to see a lot more done. I just think the fences are so difficult to live with, particularly as a resident on the Hill," said one of the locals.
Security measures were eased a little, but the US Capitol's inner fences will stay in place for some time.
Fences were previously installed following the deadly Capitol attack on January 6 which left five people dead in its wake.
