Footage has been released which shows the remains of a former US military base, located at Jalalabad Airport, as seen in footage filmed on Saturday.
Discarded police and military vehicles line the perimeter of the supposed base, whilst belongings and firepower such as mortars appear to have been left behind in storage containers. Residents carrying assault rifles were filmed exploring the abandoned base.
The base was an important location for US forces. There were thousands of US troops and some US Special Afghan Zero 2 troops stationed at the base.
On August 15, the Taliban seized control of Afghan capital Kabul as the US and its NATO allies withdrew their troops after a 20-year conflict. The Taliban announced the formation of an interim government on September 7.
