United Nations officials appealed for $95 million in aid for the occupied Palestinian territories over the next three months in a meeting held from the UN headquarters in New York City, on Thursday.
The funding will be destined to help the recovery of Gaza, the West Bank and East Jerusalem following 11 days of hostilities and exchange of fire with Israel.
The UN Humanitarian Coordinator for Palestinian Territories Lynn Hastings said the fund will address 'the immediate needs on the ground,' providing more support to one million Palestinians as the humanitarian aid 'is already being delivered.'
Hastings stressed that the ceasefire is 'still fragile' and called on both sides to refrain from any confrontations to facilitate the recovery process.
So far the UN released $18 million in aid from the Palestinian Humanitarian Fund and $4.5 million from the Central Emergency fund in New York.
