Footage taken on Tuesday night shows flashes of light from what are thought to be stun grenades deployed from behind barricades. Rubber bullets were also used by police during the demonstration, according to reports.
According to the Central Election Commission, President Alexander Lukashenko, who has been in power in Belarus since 1994, won the August 9 election with more than 80 percent of the vote. His closest opponent Svetlana Tikhanovskaya, the wife of Belarusian opposition figure and blogger Sergei Tikhanovsky, received 10.09 percent of the vote.
The protests started on Sunday after the exit poll results were announced, and around 3,000 people were detained in several different cities.
The Belarus Health Ministry said that more than 200 people have been hospitalised following the unrest.
According to the country’s Interior Ministry, one protester died after an "explosive device" detonated in his hands during an unauthorised rally in the Belarusian capital on Monday.
