Description

Hundreds of Pro-Palestine protesters, including truckers and rank-and-file longshore workers, created a human wall to block an Israeli cargo ship from offloading at the Port of Oakland on Friday.

The 'Block the Boat' protest was organised by the Arab Resource and Organising Centre (AROC).

"We've declared victory for the morning shift! The terminal has been shut down, and workers honoured our picket!" posted the AROC on its official Twitter page.

The group says they will continue to gather to prevent the Haifa-based shipping company ZIM from docking in Oakland.

Similar events occurred in South Africa and Italy last month, where dockworkers refused to offload a ZIM ship as well as a weapons shipment going to Israel.
