"I didn’t have any old [illusions], and you are talking about new ones. Where did you get it about illusions? There are no illusions and there cannot be any," said Putin.
During the press conference, the Russian president confirmed that two leaders discussed a possible exchange of convicts.
"We discussed it, some decisions may be found. The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affaires and the US State Department will work upon this matter," he stated.
In addition, Putin claimed that the US president raised the question concerning the activity of Radio Free Europe that was previously included in the list of foreign agents.
"Previously we had only two mass media working for the Western audience. I mean Russia Today and Sputnik. The American side declared them as foreign agents and withdrawn the accreditation itself. <…> Unfortunately, the US mass media don’t fully comply with the requirements of Russian law. We gave an explanation regarding this issue," said Putin.
The US and Russian leaders held their bilateral meeting at the Villa La Grange in Geneva on Wednesday. The one-day summit is the first meeting between the two presidents since Biden took office in January.
