Description

Military vehicles, including tanks, were deployed on Friday in Schuld, a municipality in Rhineland-Palatinate, as severe flooding caused a disaster across the village.

Rhineland-Palatinate Prime Minister Malu Dreyer and Interior Minister Roger Lewentz visited the area and talked to Schuld residents during their visit.

Clean-up works have already begun also thanks to the effort of the local community. According to local reports, a total of 900 soldiers are now helping in the flood areas

At least 103 people were killed, and more than 1,000 have gone missing after the flash floods hit parts of western Germany, while tens of thousands have been left without electricity. Flooding has also affected Belgium, the Netherlands, and Luxembourg.

German federal defence minister Annegret Kramp-Karrenbauer triggered Germany’s military disaster alarm in response.
