European Parliament President, David Sassoli warned the UK of the "serious consequences" if it attempts to override the Brexit deal especially with respect to Northern Ireland, Brussels, Tuesday.

"We fully expect the UK to honour the commitments that it negotiated and signed up to last year, especially in regards to citizen's rights and Northern Ireland. Any attempt by the UK to undermine the agreement would have serious consequences," he stressed.

Earlier on Tuesday, Northern Ireland minister Brandon Lewis said that UK's future legislation proposed for Britain's internal market earlier "does break international law, in a very specific and limited way."
