George Floyd's brother, Philonise Floyd, gave an emotional testimony as he took the stand during the trial against former police officer Derek Chauvin, in Minneapolis on Monday.

"He was a big mama's boy," said Philonise Floyd describing the unique bond George had with his mother.

Philonise described his late brother as a devoted son, caring father, passionate athlete, and loved member of the community.

"People would attend church just because he was there," said Philonise, adding, "He just knew how to make people feel better."

Philonise's eyes started tearing up as he saw a picture of his mother with George.

"On May 24th I got married. And my brother was killed May 25th. And my mom died on May 30th. So it's like a bittersweet one because I was supposed to be happy when that month comes," said Philonise Floyd.

The trial of the former police officer Chauvin began on March 29. He has been charged with second-degree murder and manslaughter and third-degree murder after being filmed kneeling on Floyd's neck for nearly nine minutes, leading to his death.
