Description

An unsanctioned rally against partial military mobilisation was held in Moscow on Wednesday, following Russian President Vladimir Putin’s announcement of the policy.

The footage features several hundred people gathered in the centre of the capital, chanting 'No to war', as well as a few dozen protesters being detained by the police.

No official information about the number of detainees has yet been released.

Earlier, the Moscow prosecutor's office said that Wednesday's planned 'mass events have not been co-ordinated with the executive authorities in accordance with the procedure established by law'.

The department also added those participating - and those calling on others to take part - will be punished 'under current administrative and criminal law'.
