Description

Only a handful showed up outside Twitter's San Francisco headquarters on Monday, following a call from supporters of US President Donald Trump to demonstrate over his ban from the social media platform.

A few counter-protesters rallied as well, with sign reading 'Counter Trump's Coup' and 'Impeach! Remove! Today!', as a few arguments ensued between both parties.

"I am here to stick up for Twitter, I am here to defend Twitter and I think you guys are doing a great job and I appreciate you guys taking Trump off of your platform," said Rey Blanco, a counter-protester.

"I hate censorship and I think conservative voices are being silenced," commented Rebecca Brooks, a demonstrator.

Twitter's offices have been mostly empty since COVID-19 restrictions mean many are working from home.

President Trump was permanently 'deplatformed' from Twitter, while Facebook and Instagram suspended his accounts 'at least' until the end of his term, in the wake of the assault on DC's Capitol on January 6, during the formalisation of Joe Biden's election victory. Snapchat, Twitch, Reddit and Discord have also disabled or banned accounts linked to the president.
