Description

The Israeli forces were seen clashing with protesters in Bethlehem on Thursday.

As demonstrators began to gather, Israeli police responded in numbers and with armoured vehicles firing projectiles. Tear gas and sound grenades were fired, leading to ambulances arriving on the scene.

Since last Monday, violence including rockets fired from Gaza has killed 12 civilians in Israel, including two children, while a campaign of Israeli military strikes has killed at least 230 people, including 65 children according to the Gaza Health Ministry.

However, on Thursday afternoon, Israel's security cabinet agreed on a ceasefire deal to end the 11-day conflict with Gaza militants. The truce was reportedly proposed by Egypt and would be 'mutual and unconditional'. Hamas and Islamic Jihad, Palestinian armed groups in Gaza, also confirmed the ceasefire.
