Hundreds of people gathered for an anti-racism demo at a mural of England star Marcus Rashford in Manchester on Tuesday.

Nearly 700 people took the knee at the 'Stand Up to Racism' demonstration beside the mural located in Withington, Rashford's home neighbourhood in south Manchester.

The Manchester United player took to Twitter to thank his supporters: "Overwhelmed. Thankful. Lost for words," he wrote.

The mural was defaced after England lost the Euro 2020 final against Italy on penalties on Sunday.

"I think, it is wonderful and black lives do matter. Absolutely wonderful tribute. Absolutely wonderful to see it," said a local visiting the art piece.

Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho and Bukayo Saka were targeted on social media after missing penalties in the 3-2 shootout loss.
