Description

Protesters from Syria, Ukraine, Chechnya and Germany were among those who joined together late Wednesday afternoon in front of the German Chancellery in Berlin to demonstrate against the state visits of Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko and Russian President Vladimir Putin and who are in the capital for the Normandy Four talks.

A group of pro-Russian demonstrators waved their Russian flags and chanted slogans against Ukrainians President Petro Porochenko. Just metres away were demonstrators rallying against Putin, they brought banners, posters and slaughtered teddy bears.

The peaceful protests lasted for 2 hours and no incidents were reported.

Russian President Vladimir Putin, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko, French President Francois Hollande were recevied by German Chancellor Angela Merkel earlier in the evening for Normandy Four talks. The resolution of the conflict in eastern Ukraine will be under discussion during the talks, and all four heads of state are due to evaluate the progress of implementation of the Minsk agreement and discuss further steps towards resolving the ongoing conflict.
