Description

Berlin residents shared their views on climate issues raised on Wednesday by the newly announced "traffic light" coalition that is expected to form a government early next month.

Whilst public opinion was mostly positive, some felt that the government still needs to focus on less superficial issues regarding climate change.

"My expectation is that the new government will finally make effective decisions and take new initiatives that were left untouched or overlooked in the last 16 years" shared Berlin resident Thomas.

Another Berlin resident, Marta, said she wished politicians would come up with less superficial initiatives in the face of the climate crisis.

The agreement includes a proposal to increase Germany's climate protection target, although Robert Habeck stated today that the parties had argued about increasing the goal set by the previous government to reduce CO2 by 52 percent before 2030.
