Description

The aftermath of airstrikes on the Al-Amrousieh neighborhood in Choueifat was seen on Wednesday, following the Israeli army’s request for the evacuation of new neighbourhoods in Beirut's southern suburbs.

Footage shows destroyed buildings and smoke rising from the attacks.

It came as Israel launched a 'limited and targeted' ground incursion into southern Lebanon on Tuesday, following over a week of airstrikes on Hezbollah targets.

The Lebanese Ministry of Health reported that the death toll from strikes across various parts of the country on Tuesday had reached 55, with over 1,200 killed and more than 7,000 injured since last week.

Tensions in southern Lebanon escalated last month, following deadly pager and handheld radio explosions across the country. Hezbollah and Israel have also exchanged cross-border fire since the start of the Gaza war.

On Tuesday night, Iran also launched a wave of missile attacks on Israel, which it said was in response to the assassinations of Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah and IRGC commander Abbas Nilforoshan in Lebanon on Friday, as well as the death of Hamas political leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran.
