Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the country’s Far East had become a 'flagship of the new global economic reality', speaking at the Eastern Economic Forum plenary session in Vladivostok on Thursday.
"Today the Far East has become, without any exaggeration, the most important factor in strengthening Russia’s position in the world, our flagship in the new global economic reality. The future of our entire country largely depends on how the Far East develops," Putin said.
"More than a hundred companies have become its residents as of today. We will definitely continue to move forward, and we will constantly improve the business climate in Russia in general and the Far East," he continued.
The president also mentioned the international territories of advanced development (TAD), announced during the forum last year.
"They should offer globally competitive conditions for foreign investors and, primarily, of course, from friendly countries. The first international TAD is supposed to be created here in the Primorsky region. Our Chinese friends are showing great interest in it, as well as the Republic of Belarus," he added.
The IX Eastern Economic Forum is scheduled for September 3-6 in Vladivostok. Delegations from 62 countries, including China, India and African nations, are taking part in the events. The forum is aimed at creating and strengthening ties between Russian and foreign investment communities.
