Prime Minister Narendra Modi was welcomed by a military band playing the national anthems of both India and Russia, as he touched down in Moscow for a two-day state visit on Monday.

Footage shows Modi walking from his plane with Russian First Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov, before listening to the music and observing a military march-past.

The Indian PM will hold talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin. The two are scheduled to discuss the further development of relations between their two countries, as well as topical issues on the regional and international agenda, and attend a number of events in the capital. The visit will last from July 8-9.

Modi's last trip to Russia was in 2019, when the PM attended the Far Eastern Economic Forum (EEF) in Vladivostok. The PM will travel to Austria at the conclusion of his visit.
