Moscow residents shared their hopes for a bright future of Russia-India relations, ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's two-day state visit to the Russian capital on Monday.
"It is very important for me that the visit of the Prime Minister [of India, Narendra Modi] creates a very friendly relationship with Russia," said businessman Aravamuthan Chakrapani. "India and Russia are friendly countries and we believe that we will win. It will make our trade and economic relations closer and closer."
"We've always had a good relationship, happy and comfortable, but now relations will get even better," added student Denish.
Footage shows people on Tverskaya Street near the Moscow Carlton hotel, where the Indian leader is expected to stay. They are also seen taking pictures with life-sized cardboard cut-outs of both Modi and Russian President Vladimir Putin.
"[India] always helps us in our current difficult situation with sanctions, with everything," added another local. "It buys our bio-resources, because Europe has closed itself off from us, where should we sell to? And India has a huge market."
The Indian prime minister will hold talks with Putin, and is also expected to attend a number of other events. The visit will last from July 8-9.
