"The dynamics of relations between our states are ensured by our leaders, Vladimir Putin and Xi Jinping. They have done what was impossible before. First of all, they created an atmosphere of openness, trust, and, of course, strategic partnership in all areas of co-operation," he said.
Footage also shows the politicians shaking hands, posing for a joint picture and holding bilateral talks, before attending the ninth Interparliamentary Commission meeting.
"Building a multipolar and fair world obliges us to do a lot, and we, on our part, have to do everything we can to legally ensure the decisions made at the level of the heads of state [are enacted], to contribute to the development of relations. In this regard, it is important to look for new forms [of relations], so that by developing parliamentary co-operation, we can solve the problems facing our states and peoples," Volodin continued.
The Chinese delegation arrived in Russia on Tuesday. The members will also attend events at the 10th BRICS Parliamentary Forum scheduled for July 11-12 in St Petersburg.
