The footage shows the Russian leader congratulating soldiers on the 88th anniversary of the regiment's formation, before going to the cathedral for prayers. The patriarch noted that the Russian leader had 'everything to fulfil great service to the Motherland long and successfully'.
"We, as the Church, giving you this blessing for your work today; we will continue to pray in our own personal prayers and, most importantly, in our national church prayer, that the Lord may help you all the days of your life to worthily lead the great Fatherland, Holy Russia, which is also going through a difficult period of its history," he added.
United Arab Emirates President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan was the first to congratulate Putin on assuming the office of Russian president for a new term and wished him every success, in a post on X (formerly Twitter).
"I hope to continue working with him to strengthen the strategic partnership between the two countries and take bilateral relations to a new level for the benefit of our nations," the UAE leader added.
The event marked Putin's fifth inauguration ceremony. Russia's presidential election took place on March 15-17. Turnout was 77.49 percent with Putin receiving over 87 percent of the vote.
