Description

The opening ceremony of 'Interaction-2024', 'Search-2024', and 'Echelon-2024' joint exercises of the Collective Security Treaty Organisation (CSTO) member states took place in the Kyrgyz city of Balykchy on Saturday.

Footage shows the servicemen marching across Edelweiss training range, as well as the representatives of CSTO delegations laying flowers at the monument dedicated to the victory in the Great Patriotic War.

"Against the background of an aggravated international situation, the geopolitical and geo-economic turbulence is harming the security situation of the Collective Security Treaty Organisation member states. Our countries have become direct participants in the nascent shift of forces in the world," Kyrgyz Defence Minister Baktybek Bekbolotov said.

The CSTO press service reported that "around 1,500 military personnel and 300 weapons, including aviation, various UAVs, combatant craft, and air defence equipment are deployed in the exercises."

According to Kazakhstan's Defence Ministry, the training is aimed at "increasing tactical interoperability and enhancing combat effectiveness of troops in case of crisis situations in the region."

The drills are scheduled to last till September 11.
