Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived at The Carlton Moscow Hotel on Monday, where he will stay during his official visit to the Russian capital.

Footage shows Modi and his entourage arriving at the hotel in a motorcade and being greeted by crowds of supporters who are seen beating drums and waving Indian flags.

"I am very happy that he is here. I've been waiting for him in Moscow for a long time and I was really looking forward to this moment. Now I am very, very happy,” a well-wisher said.

“I think that they will [discuss] multipolarity at [the meeting]. I think so because I work at the Russian Council on Foreign Affairs, we write a lot of articles about it. It will be a good meeting," she added.

The Indian Prime Minister arrived in Moscow at the invitation of President Vladimir Putin for bilateral talks. The Indian politician is also expected to attend a number of events in the Russian capital during a visit that will last from 8 to 9 July.

Modi's last trip to Russia was in 2019, when the PM attended the Far Eastern Economic Forum (EEF) in Vladivostok. He will travel to Austria at the conclusion of his visit.
