A rehearsal for the presidential inauguration ceremony took place in the Kremlin in Moscow on Thursday as incumbent President Vladimir Putin is set to be sworn in as Russian president for a fifth term.

According to the Central Election Commission, after processing more than 97 percent of ballots, incumbent President Vladimir Putin secured 87.3 percent of the votes. Russian Communist Party candidate Nikolai Kharitonov came in second with 4.3 percent, and Vladislav Davankov of the New People party and Leonid Slutsky of the LDPR were in third and fourth positions, with 3.8 and 3.2 percent, respectively.
