Residential areas of Saint Petersburg were hit by heavy downpours and a rare dust storm on Monday.
The footage shows sand swirling and rising while locals try to hide from the extreme weather. Cars are also seen stuck in traffic due to difficult driving conditions and poor visibility.
"I can feel the sand between my teeth!" said one citizen.
According to the Russian Emergencies Ministry (EMERCOM), special services have been deployed to offer assistance to residents and repair infrastructure in the aftermath of the storm.
"The department's specialists have already left [to the sites] 71 times: 67 - to remove trees, 4 - to eliminate the fall of weakly fastened metal structures. A tree fell on Yuri Gagarin Avenue, killing a woman and injuring another child and a woman. In addition, 10 cars were damaged. On the territory of the construction site on Bolshevikov Avenue fell a tower crane," the ministry’s press service reported.
