Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov expressed that the West wants 'Nazi Ukraine' as a continual threat to Russia, speaking at a joint press conference with Congolese Foreign Minister Jean-Claude Gakosso in Oyo.
"As for now, the West wants to have this kind of a Nazi Ukraine to be a constant threat to Russian Federation's influence in the lands that have historically been settled by Russian people for centuries," Lavrov said.
Lavrov indicated that President D. Sassou Nguesso of the Republic of Congo comprehends the motives behind the military offensive in Ukraine.
"He [Sassou-Nguesso] is also well aware that Ukraine is a tool in the West's hands, which wants to inflict in its own words a 'strategic defeat' on the Russian Federation. The Congolese President D. Sassou Nguesso believes that the only way to solve this problem is direct, honest dialogue between Russia and the West, primarily the United States, based on recognition of the conflict's causes and the current realities," Lavrov emphasised.
Gakosso, in response, criticised the countries supplying weapons to Kiev, characterising them as 'not supporters of peace' and suggesting that their actions could escalate 'into a global conflict'.
"As for the Swiss conference in Burgenstock, we simply do not understand why the Russian Federation was excluded from participating in this conference, and we wonder whether it is a peaceful conference," Gakosso added.
In light of the peace conference scheduled for 15-16 June in Burgenstock, Switzerland, Lavrov underscored that the absence of the Russian Federation renders the meeting 'futile'.
Conversely, Ukrainian presidential spokesman Sergei Nikiforov announced the confirmation of participation from 107 countries and international organisations, including Ukraine's Western allies and certain countries from South America, Africa, and the Middle East.
