Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his entourage were seen leaving the Carlton Moscow Hotel in a motorcade on Monday.

Footage shows a convoy of blacked-out vehicles leaving the building with flashing lights as locals clad in traditional Indian clothing danced to the beat of drums and watched on while waving flags.

"We are connected with Indian culture, we have a group, we promote Indian dancing, we learn dances, and this is a landmark event for us - strengthening the India-Russia connection,” one of them said.

“That was euphoric - the fact that we actually saw Narendra Modi visiting, that the relations between Russia and India are quite close, and we are excited about it. We hope that this will happen more often," she added.

The Indian Prime Minister arrived in Moscow for bilateral talks at the invitation of President Vladimir Putin. Modi is also expected to attend a number of events in the Russian capital during a visit that will last from 8 to 9 July.
