"Our countries have very good relations. Russia is a good country and a reliable friend," said Bak Traure, a participant from Mali.
Ali Kabore, an athlete from Burkina Faso, said that it had been his dream to visit Russia.
"We co-operate in the military as well as cultural fields. Russian language is taught in our country. I know Russia from these two aspects. <...> For us in Burkina Faso, Russia is a great nation," the athlete added.
The BRICS Games are an annual sports competition between member states of the association. This year's event will be held in Kazan from June 12 to 23, and will bring together around 5,000 participants from 97 countries around the world.
