"The United States is 15 years late. They will not be able to stop the development of China. It's impossible to do this, just like it's impossible to tell the Sun not to rise," Putin emphasised.
The head of state noted that Washington was actively interfering in the internal affairs of the Asia-Pacific region, involving NATO countries.
"Now, in fact, NATO is being dragged in, and the Europeans are being dragged in Asia, through NATO. No one wants to ask the Europeans if they want to spoil their relations with China and to get there - in Asia - through the NATO structures," added the president. "I assure you, I know they don’t. Nevertheless, they are being dragged in there, resembling small dogs being dragged by a big man."
The 16th BRICS Summit is scheduled for October 22-24. Leaders from more than 24 countries are expected to attend, with Russia's closest neighbours and partners in the Eurasian Economic Union and Commonwealth of Independent States also invited. Russia has chaired BRICS since January 1, 2024.
