President Vladimir Putin could be seen saying 'shukran' - Arabic for 'thank you' - as he parted with UAE President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan following talks in Moscow on Monday.
Footage shows Putin seeing off his UAE counterpart at the Grand Kremlin Palace, while Chechen head Ramzan Kadyrov can also be seen shaking hands with the UAE delegation.
The UAE president visited Moscow to meet Putin ahead of the BRICS summit, which begins in Kazan on Tuesday. During their discussions, the UAE leader said that his country would continue facilitating 'humanitarian mediation', including prisoners of war (POW) exchange deals, in the Ukraine conflict.
The Russian leader added that their talks - which also took place on Sunday - had discussed 'issues that require special attention' in an 'informal atmosphere', and had also focused on increasing trade between the countries.
Just recently, on Friday, October 18, Moscow and Kiev exchanged a total of 190 POWs under an agreement brokered by the UAE.
The 16th BRICS Summit is scheduled for October 22-24. World leaders from 22 countries are expected, with delegations expected from 36 nations, for one of the major economic, political and cultural events of the decade.
Russia has chaired BRICS since January 1, 2024. The group also expanded this year, growing in both size and influence to nearly half the world’s population and a third of the global economy.
