Russian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Maria Zakharova warned that the refusal of the EU member states' ambassadors to participate in the planned meeting with Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov would lead to severe consequencesfor them, while speaking to journalists on the sidelines of the World Youth Forum 2024 on Wednesday.

"There will be dire, terrible consequences for them, because the loss of face for a professional diplomat, when everyone realises that he has lost his professionalism and skills, have no redress in any way, shape or form," she emphasised.

Zakharova remarked that there was 'no segregation' at the WYF, given all the participants coming from different parts of the world, including countries that Moscow labelled 'unfriendly'.

"Because we are not painting anyone with the same brush, we are not politicising humanitarian ties, but we are pointing out that there is indeed a destructive policy of certain political circles. At the same time, we say that we are always open to everyone who comes to us with peace. That is why there are young people here from all continents: from the USA, from Canada, from NATO and EU countries," said the spokesperson.

On March 4, Sergei Lavrov informed that the Russian Foreign Ministry had accumulated a lot of material on 'mechanisms for interfering and creating supporting projects for non-systemic oppositionists' developed by the European Union embassies in Moscow and had called on the embassies to come together in a meeting.
