Industry and Trade Minister Denis Manturov said that Russian companies were interested in setting up production facilities in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), while speaking during the Russia-UAE Business Dialogue session at the St Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) in St Petersburg on Thursday.
"Our companies show a great interest in creating their own manufacturing bases not only to supply their products to the Emirati market, but I mean creating a hub to supply their products to the GCC (Gulf Co-operation Council) countries. This is how we view investments by our Russian industrial companies, which create facilities, and our Emirati partners have created conditions for this," he noted.
Manturov added that in recent years the two countries have established a 'good foundation' in the industrial sphere, and said he hoped that co-operation between Russia and the UAE would continue to increase.
The 26th SPIEF takes place on June 14-17. According to organisers Roscongress, more than 17,000 people from 130 countries and territories will participate.
The Forum has taken place since 1997. Since 2005, SPIEF is held under the patronage and with the participation of the president of the Russian Federation.
