Footage shows dozens of young people being signed up for a selection process and listening to the committee members' speeches as they watch the performers on the stage of the auditorium.

Akanksha Mohanty, a participant in the selection, runs a dance group known as Kavya Kriti. According to her, not only does she want to promote her culture at the festival, but also to learn more about the national identity of foreign countries.

"We are representing my culture, my art form, and efforts for a lot of us, and we are very, very, very excited to meet more artists and to know more about more cultures," she said.

Mansham Singhal, another contestant, being a chartered accountant, finds it crucial to draw attention to his field of study at the festival.

"I hope Punjab can help industry [accountancy] grow. And a profession like chartered accountant, how it’s important in India and how it can be an important profession for the world," the man shared.

Uday Sood, the Secretary of the national preparatory committee of the World Youth Festival, revealed that the commission approved only 360 out of 21,000 applications.

"All the applicants are ready based on the data they put forward in the form, based on their social work, based on their education, based on what they have done for the country and what they can offer to the Russian side in terms of valuable co-operations, in terms of future and the future co-operation of India and Russia," said the man.

The World Festival of Youth is scheduled to run on March 1-7, 2024, in Russia's Sirius Federal Territory. It aims to develop international youth co-operation and brings together up to 20,000 young people, with 160,000 applying from across more than 180 countries.
