A Volvo car was seen veering off the road on the sidewalk in St Petersburg on Thursday, striking a courier on a moped and then crashing into a shop.
The press service of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in St Petersburg and the Leningrad region reported that the accident occurred when a Kia Rio car collided with an oncoming Volvo XC90 SUV while turning.
"The injured driver of the moped is in hospital in a serious condition," the department added.
The circumstances of the accident are being investigated.
