Description

Rosatom Director General Alexei Likhachev said that the corporation had 'very effectively' implemented peaceful nuclear projects with Asian countries despite Western attempts to 'cut Russia off' from world markets, speaking on the margins of the IX Eastern Economic Forum (EEF) in Vladivostok on Wednesday.

"Projects are already being implemented very effectively in the People's Republic of China, in India, in Bangladesh. This is the fair share of the population not only of Southeast Asia, but of our entire planet. We have big plans with the People's Republic of China to further develop relations. Negotiations are underway with India on new packages. <...> Summarising, we should say the following: despite all the attempts to cut Russia off, to cut Rosatom off from world markets, Asian markets are waiting for us," he said.

Likhachev also claimed that co-operation with Russia would bring a "completely new quality to the technological structure" of Asian countries.

The IX Eastern Economic Forum is scheduled for September 3-6 in Vladivostok. Delegations from 62 countries, including China, India and African nations, are taking part in the events. The forum is aimed at creating and strengthening ties between Russian and foreign investment communities.
