Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev reaffirmed the country’s commitment to strengthen the country’s growing co-operation with Moscow, during talks with Russian leader Vladimir Putin in Baku on Monday.

"We have already exchanged views today and expressed satisfaction with the development of relations between our countries," Aliyev said. "We have noticed positive dynamics in all areas. The composition of our delegations also illustrates it."

"The number of areas of our mutual activity is growing year by year. We are committed to strengthening our co-operation in all areas," he continued.

For his part, Putin emphasised that the chance for 'extended' talks allows the countries 'to outline future steps'.

"Our colleagues had the opportunity yesterday evening, just like you and I did, and today during the day to talk and outline the upcoming plans. I sincerely thank you," he added.

Putin arrived in Baku on Sunday for a two-day state visit. The Kremlin reported that the leadership of the two countries plan to discuss further development of bilateral relations and their strategic partnership, as well as current international and regional issues.
