Troops from Collective Security Treaty Organisation (CSTO) countries took part in mountain warfare exercises in Kyrgyzstan’s Issyk-Kul region on Tuesday, as part of the 'Echelon-2024' joint drills.
Footage shows servicemen training in first aid and using cables to transport equipment and animals up and down the mountains.
"The exercise involved a pack transport unit delivering cargo to a designated area near a mountain river. The transfer of cargo across the water was carried out via cableway. Following the water crossing, the materiel was successfully loaded onto the vehicles," the Kygyz Defence Ministry stated.
According to the department, 1,500 servicemen from Russia, Kazakhstan, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan, along with 300 units of military equipment, including UAVs, boats and air defence systems, were deployed in the exercises.
In addition to the 'Echelon-2024' drills, Kyrgyzstan is hosting the 'Interaction-2024' and 'Search-2024' exercises. They are scheduled to last until September 11.
