BRICS Games organisers welcomed Venezuela's national team at the Kazan airport on Sunday, with traditional dances and dishes.

The footage shows South American athletes sampling Russian traditional bread and salt, as well as the Tatar dish chak-chak. Additionally, artists dressed in national costumes entertained the crowd by performing traditional dances and playing musical instruments.

"We are looking forward to the opportunity to participate in the BRICS Games. We have come with all the love and greetings on behalf of President Maduro and the people of Venezuela," said Deputy Minister of Sports of Venezuela Pablo Justis.

Justis also mentioned that the national team, comprising 41 athletes competing in 12 disciplines, has high hopes for success in the medal standings.

In turn, Tatarstan's Sports Minister Vladimir Leonov noted that the BRICS Games are a great holiday for the republic and its residents are ready to welcome all foreign guests.

The BRICS Games are annual mu4lti-sport competitions between the BRICS member states. This year's event will be held in Kazan from June 12 to 23 and will bring together about five thousand participants from 97 countries.
