The Brazilian Foreign Ministry's Director of Trade, Investment and Agricultural Promotion, Alex Giacomelli da Silva, called Russia an exporter they 'fully trust', while speaking on the sidelines of the St Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) on Wednesday.

"Russia is an exporter in which we fully trust. We can also say that there is a mutual interest of the business communities of both countries in co-operation in various fields. This interest is manifested in such areas as pharmaceuticals, and telecommunications. We can also talk about products of the chemical industry," he said.

Brazilian Ambassador to Russia Rodrigo de Lima Baena Soares claimed that Russia had been the 'fifth economic partner' for Brazil as of 2022, emphasising 'positive dynamics in the development' of relations between two countries.

Meanwhile, the Permanent Representative of the Republic of Crimea to the Russian President, Georgy Muradov, stressed that Venezuela had expressed its desire 'to be part of BRICS', and said member states supported this aspiration.

"We are very, very much looking forward to Venezuela, which has expressed, as far as I know, such a desire as a brave determined state, to be part of BRICS," he noted.

SPIEF 2024, held from June 5-8, is expected to attract over 17,000 people from across 136 countries. The forum has been an annual event since 1997.
