Ksolani Kumalo, the Chief Director for International Relations at the South African Department of Higher Education, Science and Innovation, expressed hope for positive outcomes from Russia's BRICS chairmanship at the 'Shaping the Future' International Forum in Kazan.

"This chairship by the Russian Federation is actually going to come up with concrete and tangible activities that are going to be implemented with this quite a wide range of issues of the BRICS network universities, mutual recognition of qualifications, digital education. We are hoping that during this session, we are going to address all those matters," Kumalo said.

At the same event, Iran's Acting Deputy Minister of Science, Research and Technology, Omid Rezai Far, stressed the need to strengthen bilateral cooperation, especially in technology.

"At the level of bilateral relations, we need our cooperation to be strengthened and countries to unite, especially in the field of technology, which will have a good impact on our countries in the future. My country has accumulated a lot of knowledge and there are different chains of technology development that we can share with BRICS countries," the delegate added.

Russian Education and Science Minister Valery Falkov welcomed the possibility of more students from BRICS countries coming to study at Russian universities.

"In terms of higher education, we are interested in having as many students from BRICS countries as possible come and study under programs at Russian universities, and such interest exists. Today we have held relevant negotiations with our colleague from Egypt and our colleague from the Arab Emirates. The number of students from Egypt increases very significantly every year," Falkov said.
