Donald Trump said it was hit duty to 'save America' and claimed to be ahead in 'all seven swing states' with just a week to go until the US presidential election, during a briefing from Mar-a-Lago, Florida, on Tuesday.

"In less than four years, Kamala Harris has obliterated our borders, obliterated. We've never had a situation like this. Decimated the middle class and runaway inflation has caused problems the likes of which we never thought possible," he claimed. "No person has caused so much destruction and death at home and abroad should ever be allowed to be the President of the United States."

"So I'm running on a plan to save America. We're going to save America. We have no choice. It's the greatest there is. We love it, and we're going to save it. We have no choice," he added.

Trump accused his rival Harris of a 'coup' against Joe Biden, after the incumbent stepped aside from the race earlier this year.

"He didn't know too much about what was happening," Trump claimed. "Maybe that was exposed during the debate. And yet, still, the way they took that away from him was not right. It wasn't right...You can call it a coup. You can call it whatever. But they stole it. They went in like taking candy from a baby."

Harris took over the nomination after Biden withdrew and backed his vice president amid increasing concerns in the media about his health. Meanwhile, Trump also took aim at Harris for throwing around words like 'Hitler' and 'Nazi'.

"She's going out and only criticising, talking about 'Hitler' and 'Nazi'. Because her record's horrible. Her borders are the worst in the history of the world," he alleged.

Harris has attacked Trump for allegedly 'praising Hitler' after retired General John Kelly told media outlets Trump would be a 'fascist' in office and had once said 'I need the kind of generals that Hitler had'. Trump described Kelly as a 'low life' who had 'made up' the claims.

Trump faces off with Harris on November 5, with the seven states of Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, North Carolina, Georgia, Michigan, Arizona, Nevada set to be critical - and all reportedly on a knife-edge with no candidate pulling ahead, according to the latest polling.
