Bishkek has prepared for New Year celebrations. Footage taken on Thursday shows people walking around the main Ala-Too Square, with the brightly shining Christmas tree in the heart of the square. In addition, in the centre of the capital appeared luminous art objects: balls, tunnels, sleighs with reindeer and huge figures in the number 2024.

"I wish the Kyrgyz people peace in 2024, may the President live long and be healthy. He does a lot for us, including the installation of such a beautiful Christmas tree. He solves people's problems and may help even more in the new year. I wish everyone peace, comfort, and wealth. I want peace for the whole planet, without any destruction," said Bishkek resident Venera Tazhibayeva.

Another local resident, Svetlana Dum, similarly congratulated everyone on New Year's Eve and wished peace in each family. "I want peace. I want everyone to live in friendship and peace. I wish all people to be well, and every family to be in peace," she said.

According to the Bishkek administration press service, the lights on the main Kyrgyz Christmas tree, which is 32 metres high, were lit on 15 December. The New Year's beauty was installed in the centre of Ala-Too Square under a huge tent of LED lights.
