Impeachment manager played previously unreleased security footage of lawmakers and Capitol staff running and hiding as news spread of rioters breaching the building, during the events of January 6, on the second day of former-US President Donald Trump's impeachment trial, on Wednesday.
The footage includes US Capitol police officer Eugene Goodman telling Utah Senator Mitt Romney to head for safety as he ran past him in the corridors, as Goodman was on his way to respond to the breach.
Multiple staffers working for House Speaker Nancy Pelosi were also seen rushing into a conference room, where they barricaded themselves.
The impeachment managers also showed bodycam footage of a police officer being attacked by a large crowd of protesters outside the Capitol.
Trump is facing charges of inciting an insurrection for his rhetoric alleging widespread fraud during the 2020 US presidential elections, in the lead-up to and on the day of the attack, which took place as lawmakers were certifying the results of the election.
